You can expect your child to build upon the knowledge that was gained from last year's band class.

It is understood that the amount of knowledge gained is dependent upon the amount of QUALITY time spent practicing outside of your child's band rehearsal time.


Your child will have the opportunity to participate in the following events this year:

1) Perform for the VMS faculty and student body at each 6 Weeks VMS Awards Assembly

2) Performing with the band at designated home 7th and 8th grade football games (refer to the calendar affiliated with this webpage)

3) Combined Patriotic Halftime Show - 7th/8th and Roarin' Lion Band (refer to the calendar affiliated with this webpage)

4) Band Annual Fund Raiser

5) Christmas Concert in December

6) District Band Auditions (suggested, but optional)

7) UIL Solo/Ensemble Contest (suggested, but optional)

8) UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest

9) Festival Competition/Spring Trip

10) Spring Concert in May

All of these opportunites will rely on your child being academically eligible before that particular event occurs.
