In addition to the posted school list, students will need a composition notebook to serve as a math journal. This will remain in the classroom!
Students will be expected to bring the following things to class DAILY!
PRIDE binder
pencils
Daily/weekly assignments
AM folder
Other supplies that may be needed in math will be stored in the classroom.

I believe that learning is a three-fold process involving teacher, student, and parents.
I expect students to participate in class, listen and ask questions, complete assignments, prepare for tests, and come to class with needed materials. Parents will need to check student's assignment notebooks nightly, provide a time and place for assignments to be completed, and help students develop a sense of responsibility for getting work back to school and turned in. I will work to provide a classroom environment where students can be as successful as they choose to be!
Math is one of those subjects that requires a great deal of practice. It will be necessary for students to have homework on most nights. This will be work that we have begun in class and much of it will have been modeled and guided during the lesson. Most days students will be given some time to work in class on the assignment, but work that is not finished is expected to be completed at home and returned the following day to be graded and/or corrected.
I am very accessible and am willing to help in any way I can! Parents can feel free to contact me by e-mail, phone, or text!
Also, if you haven't already done so, you can sign up for Parent Access. This will allow you to check your child's grades on a daily basis! You can also get e-mail notification if your child receives a failing grade on a test or assignment. Go to the school website and click on Parent Access.

The first two weeks of the second six weeks we will be working on two digit by one digit multiplication.
Knowledge of basic multiplication facts is essential!!! Please, please, please, review multiplication facts with your child! We will be making flash cards, practicing in class, and writing facts over and over and over!!! This is a skill that is essential to their success in math for the rest of their academic career. Flash cards are cheap or can be easily made for home! |

We are collecting box tops for education!
Please begin collecting these and sending them to your child's homeroom teacher.
Also, practice those multiplication facts at home. Flash cards can easily be made with index cards or purchased at Wal Mart or the Dollar Store!
Please check your child's assignment notebook and initial it nightly. This is a great communication tool for parents and teacher. Also, we will be asking you to sign that you have seen the PRIDE binder, graded papers, and the discipline record each Tuesday. This will be checked on Wednesday.
EVERYTHING YOUR CHILD NEEDS SHOULD BE IN THE PRIDE BINDER!
