AR
For over ten years, VISD has used the Accelerated Reading (AR) computer based reading motivational system. This supplemental reading program has proven to be a terrific tool for helping students improve their reading performance, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills. One-third of your child's reading grade will be based upon the accomplishment of his/her reading goal for the six weeks. Each six weeks, the students who reach their AR goals are rewarded with a trip to the AR store, prizes, etc. Parents, grandparents, friends, etc. play an important role in helping our students reach their individual goals. I encourage you to ask your child about his/her reading, and even read to your child. Your child's reading goal and level are listed on his/her reading log in the binder.
