LINDA BORCHARDT
Proud to be a Lion!
Algebra I (From the TEKS Subchapter C. High School §111.32) The basics of algebraic reasoning and data representation which were developed in middle school are embedded throughout the Algebra 1 curriculum. The Algebra 1 curriculum addresses topics such as algebraic thinking and symbolic reasoning, function concepts, relationships between equations and functions, tools for algebraic thinking, and underlying mathematical processes (TEA, 2006). Curriculum for this class will be based on CScope, TexTeams (from the University of Texas’ Dana Center), NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics), and Algebra I End of Course Success
AMDM (Advanced Mathematical Decision Making) The primary focal points of Advanced Mathematical Decision Making include the analysis of information using statistical methods and probability, modeling change and mathematical relationships, mathematical decision making in finance, and spatial and geometric modeling for decision making. In AMDM, students learn to become critical consumers of the quantitative data that surround them every day, knowledgeable decision makers who use logical reasoning, and mathematical thinkers who can use their quantitative skills to solve problems related to a wide range of situations. They develop critical skills for success in college and careers, including investigation, research, collaboration, and both written and oral communication of their work, as they solve problems in many types of applied situations. Curriculum will be based on AMDM, a project of the University of Texas’ Dana Center and The Greater Texas Foundation, and The Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics
