I am so excited to have your child in my class! I know that we are going to have a WONDERFUL year!!!! Fifth grade is a big transition for some children. It is their first experience with switching classes and having more responsibility. I believe that if we work together it will help to make that transition easier. This year will also be the first time that your child has a full blown "Science Class." The reason for this is that in fifth grade your child will be taking a Science TAKS test. They will be learning a lot of new and fun information throughout the year! One of the most important things that they will be working on is Science vocabulary. Vocabulary is so very, very important because obviously if you don't know what the word means then it is hard to know how to answer a question about it. Your child will have a new set of vocabulary words almost every week that they will be tested on. I will keep my webpage updated with what the words and definitions are. Please work with your child on learning these definitions. They will be making flash cards in my class in order to help them study. Your child will also be going to the Science Lab often this year. The kids always love it!!!!!!! I know that if we all work together this year your child will be very successful and hopefully 5th grade will be their best one yet!!!!!!
