Wild About MATH!
Welcome to Mrs. Rakestraw's 5th grade math class!

This is my second year teaching 5th grade math. I am looking forward to a very exciting and productive year!

Download Page ~ I have spent countless hours this summer working on this section! I have taken every type of problem we work on and made an example. I printed this for each student; however, sometimes students do not make it home with their notes folder. Now they can get it at home!

Be Responsible!
Be Respectful!
Be Caring!
Be Trustworthy!
Be a Good Citizen!
Be Fair!

Respectful ~ they must raise their hand and wait for permission to speak or leave their seat. They must also keep hands, feet, and objects to themselves. If a student breaks this rule, they are being disruptive and they are distracting other students from learning. This is not tolerated in my class!
Responsible ~ they must bring a pencil, math packet, notes folder, and AM to class every day. They must complete and turn in assignments on time! If a student breaks this rule, there is a possibility they will fail my class. I deduct points for late assignments, and AM is also graded. It is very difficult for the student to get caught up when assignments are late and AM goals are not completed on time. I will be contacting parents when assignments are late.
Cooperative ~ Do what the teacher asks immediately. If I cannot get the students on task immediately, time is taken away from their learning. If it takes 5 minutes to get a class to settle down, it adds up over time ~ 25 minutes a week or 1 hour 40 minutes a month of wasted time. Time that could be spent learning!
